It has been said that eating a raw oyster is like French kissing a Mermaid. 

Well, we haven't been able to catch a Mermaid to confirm if that is true, but, we can proudly say that the Sober Island Oyster, grown within the pristine waters of Eastern Shore's 100 Wild Islands, are indeed the freshest, creamiest and sweetest oysters we've had the pleasure of tasting.

Did you know that an oyster takes 5 - 7 years to reach maturity?


The Sober Island Oyster is grown in the pristine waters of the Atlantic Ocean, where the twice daily flushing of the tide produces an oyster that delivers a delightful ocean taste to your palette.

A Taste Experience

Your first taste of a Sober Island oyster delivers a light, creamy sweetness against a backdrop of sea salt.


The Sober Island Oyster then releases a "clean ocean" after taste where you’ll find butter, seaweed or spices in its finish…. which depends entirely on what your drinking, perhaps!!

The Sober Island Oyster Aquaculture facility offers a beautiful backdrop for farm tours showcasing their water-based operations.

Farm tours consists of:


  • Oyster shucking demo/lessons
  • Cooked Oysters of the Day



  • Boat tour of water-based operation



*Bring your own refreshments (water & pop available onsite)


Your activity based Sober Island oyster eating experience will be approximately 90 min.

All are welcome to stay and finish up your refreshments with more oysters!

SOBER ISLAND OYSTER FARM TOURS

Enjoy a relaxing stay at the Webbers Motel in Lake Charlotte as your home base from which to tour of the Sober Island Oyster Farm.


Set in the beautiful rural community of Lake Charlotte, on Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore, Webbers Motel is your escape from the city! Only minutes to Clam Harbour Beach,  Webbers Motel is a great place for surfing, beach combing, swimming, and hiking. We are also located on an extensive trail system that is used by hikers, mountain bikes, and ATVs.

Weather permitting is always the case when you live and work by the sea! Rest assured, we will issue a full refund if we need to cancel due to the weather.


2 Tour Options per day:
12:30 pm and 2 pm
